Background

Charles Tassin is an interior designer. Maylis Tassin is a visual artist. Their love story is the foundation on which they built their life together and their professional career. Working hand in hand, in perfect harmony, they deliver unexpected decors and interior design schemes like no other. Their one-of-a-kind furniture pieces and lighting fixtures are now housed at Galerie May, a space and label they launched in 2010. Each piece conjures the personality of the two designers and is created with the help of skilled artisans who bring to life the couple’s vision. The perfect balance between the masculine and the feminine, the rigor and the madness, the structural and the organic.

Signature Style

Inspired by the work of legendary ensembliers-décorateurs from the past, and wanting to revive it, Charles and Maylis created Galerie MAY in 2010. Their first furniture pieces were designed to counterbalance contemporary trends and celebrate timeless elegance with a neoclassical feel. Their signature style is defined by the eclectic mix of styles seamlessly blending in with the curated design scheme.

Showstoppers

The MARTT Sofa, the HERONN Lamp and the ARPP Console mark the beginning of the artistic collaboration of Maylis and Charles Tassin. These designs mix the masculinity of the drawings and the femininity of the details. Each piece is conceived as part of a setting, an atmosphere: timeless styles that are meant to become the future’s valuable antiques.
