Background
Simon Cabrol was born in 1990 at the foothills of Mount Sainte-Victoire and grew up immersed in the warmth and luminosity of Aix-en-Provence. As an Artisan Designer and cabinetmaker, he underwent successive training with the Compagnons du Devoir, pursued studies at the Ecole Supérieure d’Ebénisterie in Avignon, and later honed his skills at the Design School of Nantes, attaining a craftsmanship that matched his exacting standards. In 2018, in collaboration with Malvin Gaborit, also a furniture designer, he founded “Millimètre,” a workshop dedicated to high-end interior design. This endeavor swiftly led to the establishment of the “UNI” studio, serving as a laboratory for their unique creations. His memories of Brittany and its coastline, discovered through his maternal grandmother, seamlessly blend with his experience of sweet life in the South, to inspire his earliest designs. Alongside his collaborations, Simon has launched his own collection of furniture.
Signature Style
Simple at first glance, his style is a delicate balance between form, color, and detail. His work captivates the imagination, eliciting a tactile or visual emotion. Striking the balance between a narrative approach and a rather minimalist aesthetic, Simon plays with details, textures, and forms to provide choices for interpretations: “I enjoy challenging visual perception and tactile experiences to evoke sensations,” he says.
Showstoppers
The “BOO” buffet in its iridescent green iteration represents an emotional expression. Its sleek and robust form, marked by edges reminiscent of marine erosion, imbues it with a timeless quality. The two cylindrical legs create an illusion of suspension, while the subtle walnut border details add a refined touch.
