Rio Rocking Chair appartient \u00e0 la ligne de mobilier imagin\u00e9e par Oscar Niemeyer \u2014 l’architecte moderniste br\u00e9silien \u00e0 qui l’on doit Bras\u00edlia et le si\u00e8ge des Nations Unies \u2014 en collaboration avec sa fille Anna Maria Niemeyer, durant ses ann\u00e9es d’exil politique \u00e0 Paris. Frustr\u00e9 par un mobilier des ann\u00e9es 1970 qui ne refl\u00e9tait pas l’architecture de son temps, Niemeyer entreprit de dessiner lui-m\u00eame ses meubles, portant ses courbes sensuelles jusque dans le bois et le m\u00e9tal.<\/p>\n
Con\u00e7ue en 1978 pour l’usage personnel de Niemeyer, cette chaise \u00e0 bascule est sans doute son dessin de mobilier le plus embl\u00e9matique, avec son incontournable assise en L en rotin soutenue par une seule feuille de bois laqu\u00e9 noir cintr\u00e9.
