Inspirational Designs From Our Favourite Movies

Watching great classics and getting inspired: we selected some iconic movies and paired them with exclusive designs… Stay tuned for our Sunday Double Bill on Instagram, a weekly post featuring our choice of two movies and the furniture that goes best with them.

Meanwhile, in case you missed it here is a recap of last week’s double bill: Bringing Up Baby and Io sono Amore

A brilliant comedy from the thirties, and a contemporary brainy drama, both set in utterly elegant décors…

Bringing Up Baby, directed by Howard Hawks

Ah, the glamour! This brilliantly crafted screwball comedy brings together Catherine Hepburn, Cary Grant, two leopards and a… brontosaurus!

Besides the witty, fast-paced dialogues, the utterly farcical situations, and the slapstick antics, we love this movie for its beauty: Beautiful costumes and beautiful sets straight from the elegant imagery of the 1930s.

I am Love (Io sono Amore) directed by Luca Guadagnino

A bourgeois drama echoing the oldest, most debated topic of all: family and its secrets.  Part of the movie was shot inside Villa Necchi Campiglio, a 1930s stately mansion designed by Piero Portaluppi. The villa is one of the most famous Art Deco landmarks in Italy, and has inspired many Italian designers since, including Cristina Prandoni and Francesco Balzano.
