New In: Anima Collection by Atelier Février

Anima, the new collection of handmade rugs by Atelier Février is a visual journey into Abstractism.

We are delighted to unveil Anima, the latest collection of rugs by Atelier Février. Long time in the making, this selection of exceptional designs exemplifies yet again the unique style of the French brand, known for its cutting-edge aesthetic of mesmerizing patterns.

Atelier Février’s rugs are made with the ancient Tibetan technique of hand-tied knots – up to 190,000 knots per square meter – that requires the combined workforce of up to 50 skilled artisans. Made of Himalayan wool and Chinese silk, the rugs age beautifully.

Anima – the Latin word for soul – is a striking collection defined by a variety of complex, enticing patterns. The abstract motifs tap into distinct cultural references including Pointillism – the Mille Points rug – , Russian Constructivism – the aptly named Equilibre rug , and a nod to Japanese textile tradition with the Kimono rug

Each rug can be customized in size, colour, and shape.

Atelier Février

Founders of Atelier Février, Florian Pretet and Lisa Mukhia Pretet design together outstanding rugs skillfully hand-knotted in Nepal. Their pieces are the epitome of contemporary art fused with traditonal craftsmanship.

A graduate from the Parisian Fashion School Studio Bercot, Florian Pretet is a French designer who worked several years for a prestigious French fashion brand that led him to Kathmandu. Through Atelier Février, he breathes life into his drawing, translating them into beautiful design pieces.

Born and raised between Darjeeling and Kathmandu – where traditions are the culture’s cornerstone – Lisa Mukhia Pretet is  a keen entrepreneur with strong love for fashion and craft. Her work experience, exposing her to vernacular techniques, brought froward her fascination for craftsmanship that have been passed along for generations.

Real life partners, coming from different cultural and professional backgrounds, their association is drawn from those common passions for art, fashion, craft and expertise.
