The Clef Rugs by Marcel Zelmanovitch, the founder of Diurne, are inspired by geometric shapes. Based on the principle of simple composition, the patterns are defined by squares and rectangles displayed in vertical symmetry in the likes of very old buildings’ facades. The shapes’ regular sequence is interrupted by different-shaped elements which bind them together. In French architecture they are called clés”, keys.
