Atelier Tristan Auer, Wilson Associates

A grand, early 20th century residence in the ultra-exclusive Paris suburb of Saint Cloud

This grand, early 20th century residence in the ultra-exclusive Paris suburb of Saint Cloud deserved the chicest of home renovations. Who better fit for the challenge than Atelier Tristan Auer, Wilson Associates? Known for clean lines and bespoke functionality, Atelier Tristan Auer, Wilson Associates led the design.

The three-story, 500 square-meter villa, owned by a young family, offers both an environment fitting for playful children as well as a modern atmosphere infused with an eclectic contemporary art collection and creative decor. Overlooking Paris and the iconic Eiffel Tower, the carefully-curated residence features Parisian décor fit for a countryside family home.

On the first floor, design details like original antique parquet flooring in a chevron pattern contrasting with classic black and white tile, and high-quality stone from Real Marble, deliver a natural sense of separation amongst the various zones and rooms. In the living area, modern furnishings like a Gyrofocus, a suspended, rotating fireplace designed by Dominique Imbert, and a sofa and coffee table designed by Thierry Lemaire, add flair.

Funky art pieces—some antique, some contemporary— including a motorcycle, rabbit figurines and an astronaut helmet, were carefully placed throughout. In accord with the space’s artful character, the most prominent design feature is a central staircase with suspended lighting inspired by a work of art by James Turrell. Upstairs, intricate wallpaper, modern art, and a handmade stone bathtub give the master bedroom and children’s room a luxurious feel.

Tristan Auer

An interior and emotion architect, Tristan Auer designs beautifully sensual and singular interiors. His extremely rich and aesthetic vision finds its finest expression in vibrant colour, lights and era mixes. From the Hôtel de Crillon and the Bains-Douches in Paris, to the prestigious works in private houses in London and New York, all the way to Moustique Island, he operates with the style of a stage director, his client being both the main actor in his screenplay and his accomplice in this on-going quest for elegance. As an ambassador of a certain French “art de vivre”, Tristan Auer combines his very modern vision with arts and crafts excellence to give a new definition of contemporary luxury. Tristan Auer grew up in Aix-en-Provence. After graduating at ESAG-Penninghen, he joined forces with the Christian Liaigre team, and then Philippe Starck before he went on starting his own interior design firm in Paris in 2002.
