The Duvelleroy fashion fans are manufactured in small series by the skilled artisans from a family-run partner atelier based near Valencia, the Spanish birthplace of hand fans. Each cotton leaf is stiffened, pleated and mounted by hand on wood frames. Among the many fan-making techniques, one specific savoir-faire called “cold pleating” dates back to the 19th century and was mastered and improved by Jean-Pierre Duvelleroy. This unique technique allowed to expand the offering to extremely refined fans embroidered with sequins. Since 2010, Duvelleroy has been working with specialty creators to revive some signature crafts that epitomized the brand’s savoir-faire.
