The formative years of Folke Bensow were spent in the finest schools of Northern Europe, from his native Gothenburg high school to prestigious academies in Copenhagen and Stockholm. He founded his architectural firm in 1915 and worked on complex architectural projects as well as designing furniture pieces. One his first acclaimed achievement was an industrial building for a textile company: nicknamed Iron, and regarded as one of the earliest examples of the 1920’s aesthetic, it was often referred to as “Sweden’s most beautiful factory”. Folke Bensow also designed garden furniture and park benches made of cast iron. These pieces influenced by Art Deco are sought after by keen collectors.
