Maru Meleniou’s background is rooted in art & design, having read graphic design in Athens, and worked in creative labs and animation studios. Her transition to ceramics came in a time when graphic design had started to become digitized. While searching for a more tactile expression and in an effort to actually touch her two-dimensional images and ideas, she went on to transfer them in the three-dimensional via ceramic art. “My work is inspired by the everyday. I am drawn to the small details and imperfections that mirror the honesty of the hand.” Recipient of the A’ Design Award, Meleniou is included in the Homo Faber craftsmanship community of the Michaelangelo Foundation.
