EDITOR’S NOTE

Working fluently between residential commissions, hospitality projects, and collectible design, Campbell-Rey creates surprising dialogues between historical references and contemporary craft. Hand-painted lacquer, book-matched veneers, and fabrics woven by heritage French and Italian ateliers all appear across their collections, each piece imbued with a playful, irreverent spirit and a genuine desire to make magic within a room.

The Gardening Tool Set, created by Campbell-Rey in collaboration with Flamingo Estate, elevates an everyday ritual of tending soil into an object worthy of display. Duncan Campbell and Charlotte Rey approached the humble trowel and fork with the same reverence they bring to a sofa or a mirror, treating the gardener’s hand as deserving of a tool as considered as any piece of fine furniture, produced only as a limited edition.

Each tool is hand-forged in cast bronze using the ancient techniques of lost-wax and sand casting, giving every piece a slightly individual surface born of the casting process itself. The completed set arrives individually numbered and presented in a custom wooden box, transforming a morning in the garden into a small, considered ceremony.
