      EDITOR’S NOTE

Drawing on artisanal techniques learned in Morocco and India, Flores Studio shapes ceramic, wood and marble into pieces that carry the imprint of the hand and the character of the Portuguese landscape.

The Carlos Armchair by Flores Studio reinterprets a 1940s Portuguese form through a contemporary lens, its sculptural yet sensual silhouette curving with quiet warmth. Collectors are drawn to the chair’s disarming simplicity, a shape confident enough to anchor a room without ever raising its voice, blending mid-century memory with the studio’s own restrained, artisanal language.

Assembled from four solid oak panels joined without any glue and finished in a soft matt varnish, the armchair relies on traditional joinery and the natural character of the wood rather than applied ornament. As each piece is entirely handmade, dimensions and tonal shades vary slightly, giving every armchair its own individual presence.

      ABOUT THE DESIGNER
      The Designer
Flores Design was founded by interior designer Valentina Pilia and architect Emma Pucci. Passionate about traditional crafts, uncommon textiles and the theatricality of a well-designed interior, they launched their studio In Lisbon, aptly located in the famed square Praça das Flores, to create incredibly tasteful textiles and gorgeous furniture pieces beautifully well crafted by skilled artisans. Inspired by natural materials and their enticing textures, Emma and Valentina create objects and furniture pieces that are raw yet sophisticated, and ultimately, timeless.
