      EDITOR’S NOTE

Designed by Olof Hult in 1922, the “Mikrokosmos” (“Microcosm”) urn was produced between 1923 and early 1930. Its exquisite details in cast iron evoke the stars and celestial bodies.

      ABOUT THE DESIGNER
      The Designer

Olof Oskar Hult was a Swedish architect mostly known for his austere buildings influenced by the Rationalist movement. After graduating at the Royal Institute of Technology, he started his career in 1919, working for Lars Israel Wahlman, the architect who designed some outstanding landmark mansions. In 1925, Hult joined another architectural firm working on industrial projects, including some factories and warehouses defined by his strong rationalist approach. There was, however, a more decorative side to be found in his work as interior designer, specifically in some shops and restaurants he authored in the 1940s. The furniture pieces he designed are now much appreciated by collectors.
