      EDITOR’S NOTE

      This backgammon set is a small masterclass in leather craft: buffalo hide is cut and inlaid in marquetry across the board, its panels joined with heat-sealed seams so precise they read as a single continuous surface. The playing pieces, too, are cut from leather, weighted and finished to feel substantial in hand.

      Even the dice depart from convention, carved as interlocking wooden “puzzle pieces” that click satisfyingly together. Once play is done, the entire board rolls up into a compact cylinder, an object as travel-ready as it is beautiful left out on a games table.
