EDITOR’S NOTE

The Green Arya Plate carries forward an ancestral craft kept alive in a small village near Jaipur, where generations of artisans have preserved the technique known as blue pottery. Despite its name, the tradition uses no clay at all — a quartz-based dough is shaped, dried, and fired at low heat before being painted entirely by hand.

On the Arya Plate, this heritage technique yields a rich green glaze rendered by skilled hands, each brushstroke slightly unique to its maker. Lightweight yet resilient, the plate brings a piece of Rajasthani craftsmanship to the table, its glossy surface and handpainted finish making it as suited to display as to everyday use.

The Designer

Caroline de Benoist

After a fifteen-year career as a lawyer in luxury - notably at Hermès - Caroline de Benoist got on a new path driven by her passion for artisanship and colors. Inspired by ancestral crafts and the versatility of noble, colorful materials she creates elegant, joyful styles.

Her successful collections of tableware and homeware are hand-made in India, the country of a thousand and one colors and ancestral know-how. The multitude of know-how, the ubiquitous refinement of Indian arts, the depth and spirituality of the artisans fuel her creativity.

Defined by unusual combinations of shapes and colors, her hand-made designs conjure an aesthetic emotion of colorful happiness.
