EDITOR’S NOTE

In keeping with Cabana tradition, the story of our Blossom plates begins with the discovery of a wonderful antique piece: in this instance, a vintage plate that Martina Mondadori found in her grandmother’s kitchen cabinet. The dinner plate’s floral motifs of deep blue and green, typical of handmade Italian ceramics, have been given a modern burst of extra colour but retain every ounce of their rustic charm. These plates are produced exclusively for Cabana in Umbria, where a small team of artisans paints each piece by hand. Typifying our ethos of collaboration with local craftspeople, each Blossom plate stands as a unique testament to the marriage of history and innovation that defines Cabana.

The Designer

Casa Cabana

Raised in Milan, in an environment where art and design were highly valued, Martina Mondadori’s childhood home was designed by Renzo Mongiardino, growing up surrounded by warm colours and striking combinations of texture and pattern. Travelling widely with her family, she was exposed to the design traditions of many cultures: This love of travel and discovery have never left her. Collecting pieces that speak to her and of the artists and makers who created them, Martina has deep respect for craftsmanship and authenticity in design, something that is key to her work at Cabana, and Cabana Magazine, which she founded in 2014 as an innovative yet timeless way to look at interiors.
