      EDITOR’S NOTE

The Set of 6 Presentation Plates Tohu Bohu takes its name from the French expression for joyful chaos, reproducing the mottled, foxed stains found on the pages of old books across the surface of each plate. IOM’s design turns a mark usually seen as a flaw into a deliberate, painterly effect.

The lines are modern and organic, circles that seem to wish they were squares, worked in a colour palette carrying just a hint of mischief. Grouped as a set of six, the plates bring a note of playful irreverence to any presentation course, proof that imperfection can be its own kind of elegance.

      ABOUT THE DESIGNER
      The Designer
      Inès-Olympe Mercadal
Irreverent, a little eccentric, and absolutely joyful, the Chahut tableware collection by Inès-Olympe Mercadal reflects the personality of its creator.
After studying literature, working as a freelance journalist, and gaining significant experience in the fashion sector, Inès-Olympe Mercadal (also known as ‘IOM’) reinvented herself as the perfect hostess, and traded nights out for the art of entertaining. Her passion for tableware was born at the same time. Good-by china dishes, hello authentic ceramic with a twist. She finds inspiration in her Technicolor imagination that is brimming with 70s prints, and by gazing at her collection of old books.
