EDITOR’S NOTE

The Mediterranean Tray translates the endless motion of the sea onto a round, glazed earthenware surface, its rippling relief evoking waves rolling gently toward a Provençal shore. Left raw on the reverse, the tray reveals the natural earth beneath the glaze, a quiet reminder of the hands and the clay from which it was formed.

Part of the Mediterranean series, the tray plays with shades of deep blue and dark green worked into the surface in bold relief, capturing light the way sunlit water does at dusk. Fired in brown earthenware, it is as sculptural as it is useful, equally suited to serving or simply being left out to catch the eye.

The Designer

Sophie Spinosi Céramique

Sophie Spinosi, ceramic artist in Paris, adds a twist to everyday objects to create pieces with an original design. She combines creativity with craftsmanship to make cups, trays, trinket dishes, and candle holders that are both functional and decorative, to enhance any decor. Her creations are all hand-made using modeling techniques. Each collection has an original finish using enamels to create effects with materials and shine. Her work is strongly influenced by her Mediterranean roots, with a color palette ranging from blue to green. Her creations are all limited editions or unique pieces.
