Jérôme Faillant-Dumas learnt a thing or two about sheer elegance when working alongside Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé. Now at the helm of L.O.V.E. Editions, the French designer puts into practice his unmistakable talent for creating luxurious atmospheres, and covetable designs.
The Elephant armchair is arguably Faillant-Dumas’ most known and desirable creation. This gorgeous design is a fabulous reinterpretation of the classic wingchair, – a traditional piece of furniture whose purpose was to shield the occupant from drafts, usually placed near the fireplace to trap the heat from it.
Faillant-Dumas drew from the familiar structure of the classic wingchair – a straight back with little “wings” attached to it –, and subverted its proportions. The oversize effect is as stunning as it is alluring: Finally, we are more than happy to talk about the Elephant in the room, and curl up in it!
