“As a trained architect and an art lover, I am guided by three fundamental principles: proportion, elegance and comfort,” says Charles Zana to Wallpaper Magazine when summing up his work. Indeed, for the past thirty years, the French architect and interior designer has been gracing the homes of international clients with his unmistakable style. One of his most iconic designs, the Alexandra Sofa, recently starred in AD Magazine, in a feature article on Gwyneth Paltrow’s spectacular new home in Montecito.
We are thrilled to unveil his inaugural collection of furniture and lighting that mixes brand-new designs – including everybody’s dream bed – with a few pieces from his previous projects revisited into pristine iterations.
Each piece has been made by the best craftsmen and is defined by clean, simple lines and rich textures. Drawing from the aesthetic of past design masters, Zana reinvents contemporary shapes by stripping all embellishments: he subtracts the superfluous and creates the timeless essentials of contemporary design. “With this new collection I seek to achieve the same balance between purity of forms, simplicity of volumes, and functionality, as I embark on a new quest to create timeless design,” he adds.
Sensual materials in the likes of suede, silk, and wool dress the beautiful structures in oak, cedar, and brass. Bronze and intrecciato leather accent the overall tactile feel; the harmonious palette of soft colours conjures a well-balanced, serene atmosphere…
Highlights from the collection include the voluptuous Teddy Bed, a dream piece upholstered in plush velvet, and the striking Indra Bedhead, a beautiful wooden headboard embellished by embroidered abstract motifs. The variety of lighting fixtures exemplifies Zana’s take on elegance and proportions, best expressed through the magnificent DM floor and table lamps in brass and travertine. Alongside the new pieces, Charles Zana revisited his signature Nomad Stool, now offered in a variety of luxurious materials.
First unveiled at a private exhibition in Paris, celebrated with a private dinner hosted by The Invisible Collection, Charles Zana’s designs are available for purchase through us: discover them now and get inspired!
