A crowd of design aficionados will flock to New York City to enjoy a week of events, talks, and exhibitions all related to contemporary design. For its 2024 edition, the festival will explore many themes, including culture, innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability, in the many venues located across Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. NYCxDesign will share the limelight with Oui Design! a fresh initiative under the patronage of Villa Albertine that should delight the broader public and connoisseurs alike. With the enticing title ‘Design is All Around US’, NYCxDesign will focus on the immense talent and diversity of the city’s designers, makers, and manufacturers, along with cutting-edge design businesses and districts, and academic design institutions. On its part, Oui Design! will celebrate the rich tradition of collaboration between the French and American design scenes. Pursuing its mission to deepen the dialogue and cultural connections between French and American creative communities, Villa Albertine presents a programme of openings and workshops.
Highlights include a live demonstration at the workshop of Ateliers Jouffre –the renowned French upholsterer behind some of our most iconic sofas – and a special visit at La Résidence, chef Yann Nury’s experiential restaurant in SoHo decorated by Charles Zana. In this second edition of Oui Design!, we are thrilled to introduce Thierry Lemaire, an AD 100 honoree celebrated for his bold yet sophisticated aesthetic. We are thrilled to present his first solo show in the US, giving the opportunity to design enthusiasts to discover a true master of architecture and interior design, who alongside his many projects, has recently refurbished some of the salons of the Elysée Palace including president Emmanuel Macron’s office.
