The Nuage Table is a new variation of the Encre Table, a former work by Jérôme Faillant-Dumas. It is a poetic rendering of a cloud’s shape reflecting on a puddle on the Parisian streets. The table is an ode to artistry and painstaking craftsmanship. Handmade by Lison de Caunes, the undisputed French specialist of straw marquetry, this piece taps into the great art deco tradition of crafting unique pieces with the marquetry techniques. The straw is dried, opened, flattened, and then treated with a natural silica polish for impermeability and resistance. A most delicate work for the most exquisite tabletop.
After a 15-year-career as Art Director for Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, Jérôme Faillant-Dumas founded Love Editions. His agency creates furniture and interior design projects for private clients, as well as for stores and restaurants. Jérôme is also a brand consultant, and specializes in packaging design for major luxury houses. The time he spent working close to Jacques Helleu at Chanel, thought him the importance of aesthetic coherence. The perfect balance between classicism and modernity: his timeless pieces bear the mark of classic perfection, whilst remaining tantalizingly daring. Straw marquetry and alabaster alongside plaster and Plexiglas are among his favorite materials. His work is imbued with a strong, gentle and thoroughly Parisian modernity.
