Stories News We Should All Be Collecting Design !

An exclusive talk at the Arts Club sheds a new light on the art of collectible design.

Anna Zaoui – cofounder of The Invisible Collection – will share the stage with India Mahdavi and Tristan Auer at the Arts Club for a conversation about “starting and managing a furniture collection”. With the help of moderator Emma O’Kelly, former Senior Editor at FT How To Spend It, the speakers will discuss all aspects of building a collection based on their unique experience and knowledge on the matter. Anna Zaoui is a long time art and design collector, while both India Mahdavi and Tristan Auer are renowned interior decorators whose work needs no presentation.

The topics will range from defining what a furniture collection is and how to build it, to the growing importance of design in the Art Market. Panelists will talk about what is collectible design, the differences between one-off pieces and a limited series, assessing the value of a piece over time, some thoughts on the fine line between art and design, … and much more!

The event – part of “Living with Art” series of talks-  marks The Invisible Collection’s ever-growing presence in and commitment to the design furniture market, and is being hosted during PAD London and Frieze, the perfect time for meeting with art collectors and design connoisseurs from all over the world. It’s also an opportunity to celebrate the launch of Tristan Auer’s first personal furniture collection, which will be available from 5th October on The Invisible Collection.

The event will take place at Leo’s – the sophisticated Supperclub and Nightclub created by Dimorestudio on the lower ground floor of the Arts Club – on Thursday 4th October, at 6:00pm.

Highlights and sound bites of the discussion will be posted soon.

Tristan Auer

An interior and emotion architect, Tristan Auer designs beautifully sensual and singular interiors. His extremely rich and aesthetic vision finds its finest expression in vibrant colour, lights and era mixes. From the Hôtel de Crillon and the Bains-Douches in Paris, to the prestigious works in private houses in London and New York, all the way to Moustique Island, he operates with the style of a stage director, his client being both the main actor in his screenplay and his accomplice in this on-going quest for elegance. As an ambassador of a certain French “art de vivre”, Tristan Auer combines his very modern vision with arts and crafts excellence to give a new definition of contemporary luxury. Tristan Auer grew up in Aix-en-Provence. After graduating at ESAG-Penninghen, he joined forces with the Christian Liaigre team, and then Philippe Starck before he went on starting his own interior design firm in Paris in 2002.
