Background
Casiraghi developed his style and his artistic sensibility at prestigious interior design studios, working on hotel and retail projects alongside private residences worldwide. His formative years at the Polytechnic University of Milan and his experience at the French architecture studio of Dominique Perrault enabled him to achieve the perfect balance between lyricism and Milanese sophistication, austerity and purity. He now works from Paris, where his projects continue to draw on historical references, a discreet ambiance and a taste for the intimate.
Signature Style
A free modernity that absorbs history rather than rejecting it. Casiraghi is daring with bold combinations and with the imaginative use of light and space, and he delights in overturning the codes of interior design through contrast: neon light with ancient mirrors, precious fabrics with industrial resin, antique furniture with extravagant plant displays. Whatever the register, the result holds together in a seductive harmony, an invitation to travel that can be calm or exotic depending on the room.
Showstoppers
His trio of rugs for Nordic Knots marks his textile debut and portrays the bond between humanity and the natural world through three characters: the Archeologist, the Farmer and the Astronomer, standing in for our past, present and future. Each design is deliberately figurative, a single large motif held inside a delicate frame, a very old approach to rug design brought into the present. Hand-knotted at high density in New Zealand wool at 15 mm, they carry a level of detail rarely available in a rug.
