Background

Born in 1982, Pierre Lapeyronnie grew up between Paris and the Dordogne region. A graduate of the Beaux-Arts academy, he began his career as an exhibition scenographer before founding his design studio in 2010. While conceiving comprehensive interior design projects for both residential and commercial purposes, he met many exceptional artisans from whom he learned the basics of tapestry, locksmithing, cabinetmaking, pottery, and glassmaking. In 2020, driven by the desire to explore a more virtuous mode of production, he founded his workshop on the edge of the Fontainebleau Forest, thus uniting his taste for design with his need to craft with his hands.

Signature Style

Pierre Lapeyronnie nurtures a radical and constructivist approach to volumes. Balance, accuracy, and sobriety are values that guide his process, both conceptually and formally. His pieces propose an essential vision of daily life, purifying function. He favors domestic furniture because their scale induces a tangible connection to our corporeality, specifically tables: designs that bring people together and unify. They are a vector of equality in their political history and the constant foundation of festivities in many cultures. Their stature and immobility also offer great creative freedom.

Showstoppers

The Huchet collection condenses various essential aspects of his approach. Its geometry plays with semi-circular arches, recalling pictorial and architectural influences. Its construction reflects a more systemic approach to creation. Each element, or module, is part of a finite whole, with various assemblages constituting an infinite series of models. Finally, its materiality, from the almost musical resonance of bronze to its age-old craftsmanship, is a source of immense wonder for Pierre Lapeyronnie.
