Sophia Taillet is a French designer whose work sits at the intersection of art and design, defined by a deep focus on exploring materials as a means of creation. Immersed in artisan workshops, she conducts investigative work centered on traditional craftsmanship in the context of dwindling natural resources. Drawing inspiration from the gestures of artisans, she adopts an intuitive and experimental approach to create sculpture-objects that offer a fresh perspective on materials, with a particular emphasis on blown glass. A graduate of the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (EnsAD) in Paris and trained at the School of Visual Arts in New York, she brings a rich educational foundation to her innovative practice.

Invisible Collection and Mobilier National partner to promote contemporary creation and present limited-edition designs. Mobilier National, a major institution for contemporary creation and the promotion of French decorative arts, has been dedicated since the seventeenth century to preserving, restoring, and managing unique state-owned collections of furniture, tapestries, and decorative objects. In recent years, Mobilier National has broadened its scope by launching an annual “Campagne d’Acquisition” to support creativity and integrate contemporary designs into the national collections. These works are then exhibited in prestigious institutional buildings.
Thanks to this unprecedented partnership, a curated selection of contemporary furniture from Mobilier National’s latest Campagne d’Acquisition is now available in a limited edition.

Between undulating surfaces and voluptuous curves, Venus, created by Sophia Taillet and co-published with Galerie 13Desserts, is a blown-glass light fixture that explores traditional techniques of working with molten glass. In close collaboration with a master glassblower, Sophia Taillet reinterprets the technical process of cive, which transforms a blown glass sphere into a flat disc through a rotational movement. As the molten glass disc gradually curves, it freezes in time, delicately capturing the fleeting nature of the material’s flexibility. Suspended in the air, its organic and graceful form exudes a captivating visual lightness.
