Stories Editor's Pick Ceramic Dinnerware by Pinto

When it comes to art de la table and magnificent dinner sets we have two words: Pinto Collection! Discover our selection of ceramic plates and dinnerware sets that are instant conversation starters.

If you’ve been (binge)watching Halston, and got totally enthralled with that New York’s seventies feeling of plush sets and endless clubbing, you can easily picture the energetic cosmopolitan scene that saw the rise of Alberto Pinto, famous for throwing some of the most memorable parties in town.

The young fashion and lifestyle photographer took up interior decoration as a hobby when redecorating his Manhattan apartment between assignments. His place was so stunningly well-appointed that the guests soon became clients asking Pinto to redecorate their homes.

Known for his warm, outgoing personality, and his love for parties, Alberto Pinto was driven by the need to create exceptional designs made for “the great art of entertaining”… Hence the dinnerware sets that are truly his pièce de résistance.

The ceramic collection embodies Pinto’s unique aesthetic, which he defined as “Haute Decoration interior design”; it reflects an unparalleled combination of exceptional materials, rich colour palettes and eclectic styles conjuring an atmosphere of luxury and beauty.

Drawing from the gorgeous 18th century porcelain styles Pinto revived ancient techniques mastered by a small number of skilled artisans to create very contemporary dinner sets. Beside the exceptional handcraft – including gilding and hand painting – the collections feature some beautiful motifs inspired by flora and fauna. Butterflies, orchids, colourful vegetables and lovely little bugs are hand painted with staggering realism, lending each piece an haute couture quality.

Pinto

Born in Casablanca in 1943, Alberto Pinto left his cosmopolitan hometown to attend the prestigious Ecole du Louvre in Paris. His career took off in the late sixties in New York, where he became a famous photographer for lifestyle magazines. Whilst redecorating his Manhattan apartment – where he hosted countless, memorable parties – he realized that interior decoration was his true calling. The apartment make-over was a sensation, and in no time Alberto Pinto became the go-to interior decorator in town. Fifty years on, the Alberto Pinto agency has completed over 500 prestigious projects all over the world. The founder sadly passed away in 2012, but his legacy lives on through a talented, dedicated team of architects and designers.
