Pilati Armchair by Pinto is part of the Pilati collection. As part of Pinto Edition, co-artistic director Fahad Hariri has just launched a capsule collection with Stefano Pilati. Pinto has developed it with Stefano Pilati to state a new manifesto around the modern and romantic spirit. The capsule collection begins with an over-sized sofa in a form specially designed to maintain the apparent simplicity and laissez faire look of the exterior wrapping in Pilati’s sofa styling, whilst meeting the highest standard of quality and comfort of traditional French upholstery. For the second piece, as a play on dimensions, Pilati and Hariri envisaged an expansively sized rug to dress the armchair, resulting in a very stylized silhouette. Hariri further interpreted this stylistic expression through a livable piece of art turning the perishable perfect «gesture» of Pilati into an everlasting bronze sculpture. The bronze sculpture armchair will be produced in a limited edition of eight.
Born in Casablanca in 1943, Alberto Pinto left his cosmopolitan hometown to attend the prestigious Ecole du Louvre in Paris. His career took off in the late sixties in New York, where he became a famous photographer for lifestyle magazines. Whilst redecorating his Manhattan apartment – where he hosted countless, memorable parties – he realized that interior decoration was his true calling. The apartment make-over was a sensation, and in no time Alberto Pinto became the go-to interior decorator in town. Fifty years on, the Alberto Pinto agency has completed over 500 prestigious projects all over the world. The founder sadly passed away in 2012, but his legacy lives on through a talented, dedicated team of architects and designers.
