Stories News Polcha

The new French brand is all about up-cycling and reviving forgotten designs.
Its one-of-a-kind collection is now available through us.

Charlotte Tarbouriech and Pauline Leyravaud, the French duo behind Polcha, have been friends for fifteen years, during which they explored the world of fashion and the arts at large. Charlotte was an accomplished shoe designer; Pauline thrived as an artist specializing in frescos, gilding, glass gliding and trompe l’oeil.

Their shared passion for design brought them together; their common desire to make a difference led them to found Polcha. All their designs are up-cycled pieces that they source and then revamp through unique techniques. Familiar, forgotten furnishings are turned into one-of-a-kind conversation pieces, signed and numbered.

Each design – a chair, a small table, a sideboard – is like a blank canvas on which vibrant colours and uncommon fabrics are layered. Thinking outside the box when it comes to looking at furniture, Polcha reinvents the existing design delivering something unexpected.

We caught up with Charlotte and Pauline on the eve of launching their designs on The Invisible Collection:

What drew you to design and what do you like the most about it?

Charlotte worked in fashion, Pauline in fresco painting and gold leaf work, we shared a real desire to recycle, to rework forgotten furniture, and we embarked on this adventure to make each piece of furniture unique, precious and long lasting.

Can you describe your work and style in a few words?

Our idea is to free ourselves from the traditional application of rules in order to recreate and affirm a free and personal approach toward the research of shapes, patterns and colours.

The piece of furniture you most like to design?

Each piece of furniture is a new challenge; each piece is unique, numbered and part of a temporary collection.

The most useful piece of design related advice you’ve received and would like to pass on?

Have fun and respect the material.

What do you like about The Invisible Collection?

The Invisible Collection showcases the very different personalities of each designer.

Which piece of furniture in your collection do you like the most?

The sideboard is perhaps the craziest of our collection, both in terms of the amount of work and the research into materials and shapes.
