PAD London

Stories News PAD London

Don’t miss any of the exclusive events we are hosting in celebration of the anniversary editions of PAD London and Frieze.

London will be at the center of the international collectors’ map with two world-class fairs, both reaching significant anniversaries. Frieze, arguably the coolest art fair, will fete its 20th anniversary, while PAD London will celebrate its 15th year. And right in between, literally, the two fairs’ venues – respectively The Regent’s Park and Berkeley Square – stands Invisible Collection’s gallery, open to the public throughout the busy week of events. In a recent statement from the directors of Frieze Masters and Frieze, we can read that the two fairs “Serve as a global meeting point for art, ideas and people, and mark the occasion with the fairs’ most international edition to date, with exhibitors spanning six continents and a diverse range of ambitious shows.

Highlights include Blindspot Gallery’s presentation with Turner Prize nominee Sin Wai Kin; Angela Su and Trevor Yeung, Hong Kong representatives at the 59th and 60th Venice Biennales, respectively; and Xiyadie, the subject of a recent solo exhibition at the Drawing Center in New York. Sadie Coles HQ will present a group presentation in celebration of the fair’s 20th anniversary, mirroring the gallery’s participation in the very first edition in 2003 with works by gallery artists who took part in that first year, including John Currin and Sarah Lucas. Edel Assanti will present new works by artists including Julianknxx, whose immersive video will coincide with his Barbican Curve commission and inclusion in the Tate Modern exhibition, A World in Common.

Hauser & Wirth will showcase the work of boundary-breaking artist Barbara Chase-Riboud in a solo presentation featuring bronze sculptures from the Standing Black Woman of Venice series and recent works on paper in her signature automatic writing style.” PAD London too, will mark the occasion with a line-up of over 60 galleries, including 13 new entries. Alongside sculptural pieces, visitors will enjoy the variety of contemporary designs on show with a special focus on ceramics. Invisible Collection London joins the celebrations with three curated exhibitions that bring together star designers and emerging talents. This curated programme is an opportunity to announce an exclusive collaboration with Pierre Augustin Rose in the UK. The first residency of the French brand on British soil is a rare opportunity to experience its signature designs in person and discover new pieces.

Invisible Collection’s commitment to foster collaborations and shed light on emerging talents takes full meaning with the presentation of up-and-coming Lebanese designers from House of Today. The group show, curated in collaboration with Cherine Magrabi Tayeb – founder and director of House of Today – is a thought-provoking installation that brings out the cultural diversity and variety of the Lebanese creative scene. Last but not least, we invited the French design duo Raphaël Le Berre and Thomas Vevaud to stage a show of new designs. Their signature pieces, defined by graceful curves and unmistakable spheric feet, are displayed in a warm, intimate setting on the gallery’s first floor, a sort of relaxing counterpoint to the energetic atmosphere on the lower floor.
