In the rolling countryside of Burgundy, the Manufacture de Tapis de Bourgogne has spent over six decades perfecting the art of the handmade rug, from ancestral hand-knotting to the hand-tufting technique it pioneered in the 1970s. Labelled a Living Heritage Company for its craftsmanship, the manufacture translates the visions of contemporary designers into wool, silk and natural fibre, each carpet carried through the hands of artisans who count every knot and tuft by feel.

Mousse — moss — is hand woven rather than tufted, its blend of wool, cotton and bamboo built up in cut and looped pile across four levels to mimic the soft, uneven cushion of moss underfoot. The Manufacture de Tapis de Bourgogne’s weavers work each height by hand, giving Bismut & Bismut’s design the tactile, living quality the brothers have long sought in stucco and glass, now translated into a rug that feels less woven than grown, its surface catching shadow in every dip.

Each rug is handcrafted by skilled artisans who master ancestral techniques such as hand knotting, weaving, and tufting. Due to its handmade nature, there may be slight variations in size and colour, and the patterns may adjust proportionally when the rug is scaled to different sizes. Colours are subject to sample approval and colours shown may vary with lighting and environment.
