Visual poetry. A new collection of rugs designed by Garcé & Dimofski for Beni Rugs, inspired by Fernando Pessoa’s words and Lisbon’s colours. Titled Orpheu, from the namesake literary magazine founded by Pessoa in the early 1900s, the eight-piece offering features elegant graphic motifs in a striking palette.
Like pieces of a puzzle or broken pottery, memory fractures as time moves forward. With the Echo Rug, a kaleidoscopic motif of remembrance serves as a map of forgotten dreams. Combining both knotted and flatwoven wool, the complex construction of this design requires the expertise of our master weavers.
Beni Rugs, based in the Moroccan countryside, blends 3,500 years of tradition with modern design from their 8,000-square-foot workshop near the Atlas Mountains. Emphasizing heritage craft and contemporary style, they create handwoven, made-to-order rugs in a fair trade-certified space. Each piece, shaped by the weaver’s hand, embodies the beauty of unique craftsmanship in a world of mass production.
