Rabih Kayrouz created Secretum, a poetic object of wonders. Inside a cedar wood box, we find three small sculptures – the kind of artifacts that the founders of Diptyque might have brought back after one of their countless journeys: a fragment of a temple, a fossil poppy from the Adonis Valley – the artist’s birthplace -, and a golden fragment from a cedar crown that could have belonged to the legendary King of Byblos. This piece is a tribute to the wood that the ancient civilizations used for building the world’s many wonders: mostly cedar wood shipped via Byblos, the world’s oldest port.
