Tokyo Vase

Add to Wishlist

Named for a city that has long shaped its designer’s imagination, the Tokyo Vase carries Olivier Gagnère’s signature contrast of black and white glaze across a rounded, faceted silhouette that shifts between solid and shadow depending on the light. It is produced in collaboration with Galerie Maeght, the Paris gallery founded by Aimé Maeght and long associated with artist-editioned objects by figures such as Miró and Giacometti — a lineage Gagnère’s own practice, moving fluidly between ceramics, glass and furniture, continues. Handmade in Italy, the vase belongs to a series each named for a city, echoing the geographic references running through Gagnère’s wider body of work. Also available in shiny red and white, it holds a console or plinth on its own terms, without need of company.
