Its name gestures toward the celestial: a rounded form that reads as a fragment of orbit, its surface catching light the way a planet might. Antonson works in plaster with the instincts of a sculptor and painter rather than a potter — the material is brushed on in successive layers, then sanded, rasped, and sculpted back by hand until the surface holds a soft, chalky luminosity no cast piece can replicate. Plaster’s appeal lies in this contradiction: a material associable with impermanence, worked patiently enough to feel monumental. Available in its original plaster or, on request, cast in bronze for a heavier, more permanent register, the vessel suits a console or plinth where its sculptural silhouette can be read in the round, in interiors already fluent in classical form pushed toward something stranger.
