Matteo Cibic is an Italian designer who runs an experimental sculpture studio in Vicenza. Describing himself as an object ethologist fascinated by pareidolia — the tendency to see faces in inanimate things — he channels that curiosity into playful, anthropomorphic objects, including the Homage collection created for Mmairo, the Carrara marble house, as a tribute to the quarries and sculptors of Tuscany.

Tacca Bianco Nero sharpens the tribute to Florentine sculptor Pietro Tacca into its most graphic form, alternating Nero Marquinia and Bianco Michelangelo marble with a smooth, polished finish. The strict black-and-white rhythm gives the piece a bolder, more architectural presence than its warmer siblings. Like the rest of the Tacca family, it carries the hope of luck passed down from Il Porcellino, Florence’s most touched bronze.
