Karen Chekerdjian is a Lebanese-Armenian designer based in Beirut.
The Inside Out Rosso Levanto Vase by Karen Chekerdjian treats a container the way a jeweller treats a setting: as something that must earn the attention of what it holds. Shaped by her years training in Milan under Massimo Morozzi and working at EDRA before she founded her own Beirut studio, Chekerdjian designed a vase that tells its own tale of shape and colour, whether left empty as pure sculpture or filled with flowers as a gift.
Carved from Rosso Levanto, the deep red marble veined in near-black, the vase is produced with Mmairo, the Carrara atelier that has controlled extraction through manufacture in-house since 2016. As an interchangeable top for the Inside Out Table, it lets a single saturated stone move between console, dining table and shelf, always in perfect harmony with whatever surface holds it.
MMairo designs and creates high quality marble objects in Carrara, the world’s marble capital, where they were established in 2016. The products are made using the highest quality marbles, hand finished by skilled local artisans and with a high market positioning.
