Her work is defined by a sharp-edged, near-Brutalist geometry, primal forms distilled to their essentials, where matter itself, whether marble, metal or wood, is left to speak with almost no ornament.
The Inside Out Verde Guatemala Candle Holder by Karen Chekerdjian carries light in one of the Inside Out system’s most vivid stones. Trained in Milan under Massimo Morozzi and seasoned at EDRA before founding her own studio in Beirut, Chekerdjian designed a bearer of light simple in shape, dense in material, meant to make an exquisite object as essential to a room as the light it holds.
Cut from Verde Guatemala marble, a deep green stone laced with dramatic veining, the candle holder is produced with Mmairo, the Carrara atelier that has controlled extraction through manufacture in-house since 2016. As an interchangeable top for the Inside Out Table, its saturated green turns an everyday ritual of lighting a candle into a small, deliberate act of colour.
MMairo designs and creates high quality marble objects in Carrara, the world’s marble capital, where they were established in 2016. The products are made using the highest quality marbles, hand finished by skilled local artisans and with a high market positioning.
