Peony Candle Holder

Virginie Boudsocq trained in fine arts and advertising before turning to porcelain, teaching herself a discipline she now treats as a study in controlled imperfection. The peony emerges from the clay itself, its petals built up and left partially unglazed so the raw porcelain shows through against the glossy white surface, a contrast that reveals the material’s structure rather than concealing it. Her practice took shape after the executive chef at Paris’s Hôtel de Crillon commissioned pieces for his dining room, since then her tableware has furnished some of the world’s grand hotel restaurants. No two holders are identical, each shaped and fired by hand. On a dining table or console, it holds its own as sculpture as much as function, suited to interiors where botanical realism meets refined restraint.
