Karen Chekerdjian is a Lebanese-Armenian designer based in Beirut.
The Inside Out Rosso Levanto Bowl by Karen Chekerdjian turns a fruit basket into an argument for restraint. Shaped by her training in Milan under Massimo Morozzi and her years at EDRA before she founded her own Beirut studio, Chekerdjian favours essential shapes and classical lines that let the object stand on its own, far from a mere container, and instead become the piece that transforms a table into a convivial place.
Carved from Rosso Levanto, a deep oxblood-red marble streaked with near-black veining and quarried in Liguria, the bowl is produced with Mmairo, the Carrara atelier controlling every stage from quarry to finished object since 2016. Designed as an interchangeable top for the Inside Out Table, it lets one intensely coloured stone carry the same silhouette from sideboard to table without ever repeating itself twice.
MMairo designs and creates high quality marble objects in Carrara, the world’s marble capital, where they were established in 2016. The products are made using the highest quality marbles, hand finished by skilled local artisans and with a high market positioning.
