For her Inside Out and Totem collections, Chekerdjian works with Mmairo, the Carrara marble atelier that controls every stage of production, from quarry extraction to finished object, in-house.
The Inside Out Nero Marquina Table is Karen Chekerdjian’s clearest statement of a single idea: from one foundation, multiple possibilities. Trained in Milan under Massimo Morozzi and seasoned at EDRA before opening her own studio in Beirut, Chekerdjian built this coffee table as a base that never insists on one identity, so it can carry a bowl, a candle holder or a vase and change its function without ever losing the convivial pull of a place where people gather.
The base is cut from Nero Marquina, dense black marble veined in white, while the tabletop is Rosso Levanto, a deep oxblood-red stone with dark striations, both produced by Mmairo’s Carrara atelier, which has controlled extraction through manufacture in-house since 2016. The contrast between the two marbles gives the piece its undeniable energy, a quiet architecture built from two stones that argue and agree at once.
