Stéphanie Amÿot moves fluidly between interior architecture and one-off furniture pieces for her Paris studio. The Wilson Sunset Stool is one such object — a Wilson stool whose rounded, hand-finished form reads as sculpture as much as seating.
Also a unique piece, the Sunset version is cast in ceramic and hand-glazed to evoke the graduated warmth of a fading sky, with bespoke colourways available on request. The glazing artist works the surface much as a painter blends a horizon, so the gradient across each stool is never quite repeated from one commission to the next, making every piece a small, singular sunset.
After graduating at Ecole Supérieur des Arts in Tournai, Belgium, Stéphanie Amÿot honed her skills in interior design with Richard Martinet, the principal of Affine Design. In 2014, she launched her namesake studio focusing on private and hospitality projects, including hotels and restaurants. Alongside her regular collaborations with famed Parisian architects and interior designers in the likes of Thierry Lemaire, Michel Amar, and Jean-Philippe Nuel, Stéphanie Amÿot creates site-specific furniture pieces and lighting fixtures.
