The Wilson Wave Stool designed by Stéphanie Amÿot for Amÿot Interiors & Design grew out of years spent shaping bespoke, site-specific furniture for the private homes and hotels she conceives with architects like Thierry Lemaire and Jean-Philippe Nuel. The Wilson stool distills that experience into a single, sculptural gesture — a study in the balance between strength and delicacy, emptiness and fullness, that Amÿot pursues across every material she touches.
A unique piece, this stool is cast in ceramic and hand-glazed by a ceramic artist, its undulating Wave surface catching light differently from every angle. No two Wave stools are alike, since the glazing itself is a live, gestural act rather than a repeatable industrial finish — closer to painting than to manufacturing, and every curve carries the trace of its maker’s hand.
After graduating at Ecole Supérieur des Arts in Tournai, Belgium, Stéphanie Amÿot honed her skills in interior design with Richard Martinet, the principal of Affine Design. In 2014, she launched her namesake studio focusing on private and hospitality projects, including hotels and restaurants. Alongside her regular collaborations with famed Parisian architects and interior designers in the likes of Thierry Lemaire, Michel Amar, and Jean-Philippe Nuel, Stéphanie Amÿot creates site-specific furniture pieces and lighting fixtures.
