Souraya Haddad trained first as an architect, then earned a master’s in landscape design in Montreal before turning to clay — a lineage that shows in how precisely these forms hold themselves, even at this modest scale. Her practice centres on glazing chemistry, formulas she mixes and tests herself, chasing surfaces that shift subtly from one firing to the next. That variability is the point: no two tumblers share quite the same depth of tone. Presented through House of Today, the Beirut-based platform championing a new generation of Lebanese designers, the piece sits comfortably at a bedside or dining table, equally at home as a single object or gathered in a set, where the slight irregularities between pieces read as evidence of the hand behind them.
