Etel Carmona founded her eponymous Sao Paulo design house, now Brazil’s leading re-editor of historic Brazilian modernist furniture and the country’s first FSC-certified furniture maker.
Etel Carmona was charmed by small offcuts of wood left over from another piece’s construction, their shapes reminding her of flower petals; inspired by the Impatiens flower, known in Brazil as Maria-Sem-Vergonha, she arranged them into this side table, crafted in imbuia, cedar or freijo wood with feet in Corten steel, black iron or aged gold.
