The lost wax technique uses a negative form in which the molten metal is cast. A first wax sculpture is used to create a mould. During drying, the wax is melted and drained, leaving behind the negative form of the wax. The liquid bronze is then poured into the mould. After the final step of chiseling, the bronze is ready to receive the final touches and the patinas of colour.
