Nish Design, by South African designer Tanisha Neill, proves that minimalism and warmth are not mutually exclusive. Working from her Cape Town studio, Neill designs furniture that sits at the meeting point of architectural discipline and hand-finished craft, favouring honest materials — solid woods, natural stone, tactile leathers — over ornament, engineered to hold a room alone or blend into a considered composition.

The Kyra Bench is a fascinating study in restrained strength, pictured here in wire-brushed ash finished with a carbon stain that deepens the timber’s natural grain. Nish built the design around simplicity and stance — a piece with plenty of visual potential that nonetheless holds its own in any room. Clients can select their preferred wood, surface texture and stain colour, ensuring that every Kyra reflects the same handcrafted, imperfect beauty prized throughout the Nish collection.
