Born in Montargis in 1959, Christophe Pillet spent his childhood moving across France before studying at the Villa Arson School of Decorative Arts in Nice. Drawn early to the creative vitality of Milan, he continued his education at the Domus Academy, where he immersed himself in the experimental design culture of the 1980s and created a lamp for the Memphis collection. After returning to Paris, he joined Philippe Starck’s agency for five years before founding his own studio in 1993, the same year he was named Designer of the Year at the Paris Furniture Fair.
