Materra–Matang is an architecture, furniture, and research studio founded in 2022 by Ophélie Dozat, architect and PhD candidate, and Lucien Dumas, architect and cabinetmaker, in collaboration with architect-cabinetmaker Lou-Poko Savadogo. As architects, makers, and researchers, their approach is multidisciplinary and focuses on designing projects at every scale — from furniture to interiors, and from buildings to fragments of landscape.
In a practice where design, making, and experimentation are inseparable, a detail, a narrative, or a material (earth, wood, stone, natural fibers, etc.) can become the starting point for a broader project. Each project develops through a careful analysis of place, with the aim of grounding architecture in its context by prioritizing the use of local materials and their artisanal transformation.
