Dorothée Delaye has built a design language that’s unmistakably her own: refined yet relaxed, steeped in Mediterranean warmth, and always imbued with a sense of joyful elegance. A former media specialist turned interior designer after attending the famed Ecole Boulle, she crafts spaces that feel at once contemporary and timeless, where color, texture, and atmosphere tell a story of place and spirit. Among her most talked-about recent projects is the transformation of the iconic Monte-Carlo Beach Club. Delaye reimagined the site with a poetic touch, introducing sculptural sunbeds, cabanas, and seating that echo the natural tones of sand, sea, and sun. Her redesign brings a sense of Riviera ease to every corner, balancing nostalgic glamour with modern softness. This elegant renewal served as the perfect backdrop for the Jacquemus fashion show, where bold silhouettes and joyful hues harmonized seamlessly with Delaye’s festive, sunlit staging. Her signature style has also found a home in the world of fine dining. She was behind the interior concept for Mimosa, first at the Langham in London and later in Paris’s Hotel de la Marine. Here, guests experience the immersive beauty of her vision.
Her use of warm woods, ceramic lighting, and hand-painted frescoes brings to life a Riviera fantasy, one rooted in craftsmanship and conviviality. Each space feels curated to reflect the cuisine itself: fresh, spirited, and deeply tied to the South. A hallmark of Delaye’s work is her sensitivity to materials. Whether it’s textured ceramic, lightly patinated brass, or sun-bleached oak, every surface she chooses has a tactile richness. Her furniture collections, available exclusively through Invisible Collection, speak this language fluently. Pieces often straddle the line between indoor and outdoor, proving that comfort and sophistication can live under open skies as easily as within elegant walls. “This is the Meltem collection, created specifically for outdoor use, tells us Dorothée. “In hotel projects, we’re often limited in our options, so I loved combining tubular steel with wood, and adding little sun motifs inlaid into the furniture. Everything is designed to be durable: you can remove the cushions and upholster them in any fabric you like. This is outdoor furniture you can leave out all year round. It’s made from IPE wood, which is specially treated to withstand rain and heavy weather.”
